Stuck in stereotypes? Nordic conference "Art without Boundaries"

This conference is organized in cooperation with the Nordic Council on Disability Policy and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland, with the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The conference is held as part of the programme of Nordic Cooperation under the chairmanship of the Icelandic government in 2009.

The conference will focus on three issues:
• The visibility and presentation of the handicapped in media and in culture in the Nordic countries.
• The importance of article 30 of the United Nations´ Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities (‘Participation in cultural life, recreation, leisure and sport´).
• "Art Without Boundaries" as a model for grass-roots participation of the handicapped in art and cultural events, that can be adopted locally or nationally in other Nordic countries.
