XDance Festival May 30th to June 4th 2023
DanceAbility Finland and Kaaos Company celebrates the fifth XDance Festival in cooperation with Kulttuurikeskus Caisa and Annantalo from May 30th to June 4th. Several internationally renowned artists from France, England and Sweden will teach and perform in the program which celebrates inclusion through the art form of dance. XDF 2023 offers performances, dance films, workshops, a panel discussion, a presentation and conversations. Most of the festival events are free.
Kaaos Company's Torotörö will premiere at the festival. Young Finnish dance artists Fri Nilas Lindell and Siiri Tiilikka will present their work in the program and Danskompaniet Spinn (SE) performs the duet Hannah Felicia.
Tuesday 30th May 10:00-15:00 the CHILDREN'S XDF festival is at Annantalo. The comprehensive program includes among others Auraco performances and workshop Tuntu aimed for visually impaired children. All events at the Children’s XDF are free of charge.
XDF is happy to host Adam Benjamin (UK), award-winning choreographer, author and one of the pioneers of inclusive dance, to lead a 3 day inclusive workshop. Another international teacher Maylis Arrabit (FR) will be hosting a workshop on dancing with people in wheelchairs.
Friday 2nd of June there will be a party for disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users.
The festival is supported by the Swedish Cultural Foundation. Other support is from the Kone Foundation.
