UrbanApa X Ateneum 2023
UrbanApa takes over Ateneum with surprising, interdisciplinary, and playful works.
In 2023, UrbanApa x Ateneum will be held during 15–18 November at Ateneum’s art museum. The event brings urban contemporary art to a museum context, and for four days, a group of diverse artists – all professionals in performance art, music, and visual arts – will take over Ateneum and create surprising, interdisciplinary and playful works. The 2023 program has been curated by Emmi Venna and Sonya Lindfors.
The thematic landscape of this year’s festival is in the deep / on the surface. This autumn we ask: What kinds of things are present and in motion? Already identifiable? What kinds of things are just taking shape? What is surfacing in different contexts? Or what kinds of things are under the surface or in the depths? How can working and doing be many things at once – deep, pleasurable, light, subversive? Playful, feminist and communal? Or utopian?
