Saari Residence call 2024, deadline 31st of March
The annual application period (1st of March until the 31st of March) for the 2024 Saari Residence for artists is now open!
The Saari Residence, maintained by Kone Foundation, is a residence located in Mynämäki, Southwest Finland, for artists of all disciplines and nationalities. At the Saari Residence, artists and researchers can focus on their work in a peaceful rural environment and share their thoughts and experiences with colleagues. The residence’s long-term activities and thinking are underpinned by an ecological approach, which also covers social and psychological sustainability. Its keywords are slowness, insight and change.
The Saari Residence is an international residence with residency positions intended for individual professional artists, fiction writers, poets, novelists, translators, curators and critics, and artistic collectives of all disciplines and all nationalities. The selections for residents emphasise artists whose work is rejuvenating and topical, as well as new forms of art.
One apartment and the main building of Saari Residence are accessible:
“One of our apartments is barrier-free and has a kitchen, a barrier-free toilet and three rooms. The apartment is located on the ground floor and can be accessed by a wheelchair lift. In the next few years, we plan to improve the workspaces in the barn to make them barrier-free for greater accessibility.
The main building of the Saari Residence was previously not accessible by wheelchair, but is now equipped with a lift. There was a comprehensive renovation in 2022 that involved repairing the floor on the first floor, improving the accessibility of the building and updating the staff facilities. Accessibility by wheelchair has also been improved by removing the thresholds in the building.”
