Performing art professional – answer Time to (Really) act European Arts & Disability Survey by 30th January
In 2021, Europe Beyond Access launched the report Time to Act: How lack of knowledge in the cultural sector creates barriers for disabled artists and audiences, authored by the international cultural mobility network, On The Move.
This was a unique report: for the first time it gathered statistics and evidence from across the mainstream European Performing Arts sector which proved, beyond doubt, that arts managers do not currently have the skills or knowledge to present and support disabled artists and audiences. Huge gaps in provision were indicated – despite a corresponding desire from arts managers to improve their knowledge, and to improve access to the arts for disabled people as artists, as arts professionals, and as audiences.
Time To Act has had a major impact across Europe – being discussed by Arts Councils, by National Ministries of Culture, by the European Commission, by private foundations, as well as in conferences and seminars involving thousands of individual arts managers and arts organisations.
On The Move is currently researching a follow-up report which will be published in May this year.
We need hundreds of arts professionals from across Europe to answer this concise questionnaire (English Version). (10-15 minutes to complete).
The deadline is 30 January.
The questionnaire is targeted at respondents who are not Arts & Disability specialists, but instead, to those who are in the mainstream cultural sector: whether they feel they have a lot of experience or none at all in this area.
The target group for the questionnaire are cultural professionals involved in performing arts venues or festivals, e.g. as artistic directors, programmers, curators, general managers, chief executives, creative producers, cultural managers, etc. across the Creative Europe-eligible countries, plus UK & Switzerland.
The questionnaire is available in English, French, Italian, Swedish, Polish and Spanish. Respondents can also respond in their own language and answers will be translated by On The Move (email contact: mobility@on-the-move.org).
