New text published on the Making space for artistry -project's website: Without the spectrum of all kinds of humanity, the understanding of gatekeepers won't open up

Samuli Nordberg.

A new text has been published on the website of the Making space for artistry project! University lecturer Samuli Nordberg from Tampere University's actor training Näty opens some perspectives to art education's entrance exams from the point of view of a so called gatekeeper.

"In the entrance exams, we try to observe curiosity and an open attitude towards the world. We hope to see multisensory and comprehensive bodily perception. We look for mutual interactions of people and materials. We are excited about diversity and recognizing different strengths.

However, we need the courage of all those who seriously want to put their energy into applying, despite the small chance of being accepted to our study program. This is because without the spectrum of all kinds of humanity in the entrance exams, the understanding of our "gatekeepers" won't open up.

Art education changes through people."

Read Samuli's writing in its entirety (only in Finnish):

The text was written as part of the collaboration between Näty and the project Making space for artistry - equity for disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users.
