Kenya Revisited exhibition by Gallen-Kallela Museum is the Museum educational act of 2023
Museopedagoginen yhdistys Pedaali ry has chosen the Espoo-based Gallen-Kallela Museum’s Kenya Revisited exhibition to receive the prize “Vuoden museopedagoginen teko”, the museum educational act of 2023.
Kenya Revisited project aimed to be dialogical and to bring anticolonialist practices to museum work together with Finnish people with Kenian background. The exhibition does not repeat the old narratvie of Akseli Gallen-Kallela travelling in Kenya, but brings forward the insights of contemporary Kenyan people. The community coordinator of the project had also Kenyan background.
