Helsinki Cine Aasia Festival 16-19 March

The only festival of contemporary Asian cinema in Finland, Helsinki Cine Aasia, is coming again in March! The festival includes 22 films from East and Southeast Asia. Themes from the films are also discussed by expert panelists in themed discussions. Helsinki Cine Aasia takes place at Finnkino’s Kinopalatsi, Cinema Orion, Kino Regina, and the Oodi Helsinki Central Library from Thursday to Sunday 16-19 March 2023.

The opening film on Thursday 16 March at 5.30pm at Orion is a European-Korean co-production Kotiinpaluu (2022). It is the latest film from Cambodian-French director Davy Chou, and portrays the difficulties of a young Korean-born woman who has been adopted to France and now questions her identity.

Single tickets are 11€, the screening pass (5 screenings) is 45 €. The Baby Kino screening is free of charge and is meant for those who come with a toddler or a baby. The VR documentary at Oodi, and the special screening at Vuotalo after the festival on 25 March, are free of charge. The films Fukushima 50 and Oldboy are subtitled in Finnish, all other films are subtitled in English. The festival reserves the right to changes in the program.

Helsinki Cine Aasia is supported by the City of Helsinki and Arts Promotion Centre Finland. The festival’s partners are Cinema Orion, Kinopalatsi, Oodi, Kino Regina, Finnish Japanese Society, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Finland, Ônam, and Juova Hanahuone.
