Congratulations to a 100-year-old Finnish Museums Association!

Culture for All Service has cooperated with Finnish Museums Association for the whole time of our existence, 20 years. On Saturday 30th of September Museums Association celebrated its 100th anniversary!

What would Culture for All Service be without Finnish Museums Association?

Museums Association has been a great partner and support for us in many ways. The association participated in accessibility projects, which happened before Culture for All was established. We also cooperated in the first years of Culture for All. For example, we organised many trainings for museum workers with Leena Tokila (who was and is in charge of the trainings of the Museums association.) Museums association also participated in the first workshops where we started to develop Kaikukortti card, in 2014. Kimmo Levä ja Tuuli Rajavuori, the representatives of Museums Association, have been in our board in different years, and Kimmo was the first vice chairperson of the Association For Culture on Equal Terms (Yhdenvertaisen kulttuurin puolesta ry). Kimmo helped us concretely in many administrational matters when we moved out from Finnish National Gallery and Association For Culture on Equal Terms was established. Our long-term cooperation can maybe be seen in that museums can be seen pioneers in the accessibility questions in the cultural field.

”I want to congratulate the Museums association for its 100-year journey as the advocate of the memory of our society and community, and also thank the association for our long, 20-year cooperation and all the support that the association has given to us during the years. In this diversifying, but also polarized time we need actors like Museums association, which provide museums with trainings and support in their important task to promote democracy, dialogue in society and collecting, embracing and accessibility of our diverse cultural heritage. Thank you for promoting everybody’s right to their own cultural heritage and history!” Rita Paqvalén, The Executive Director of Culture for All (currently on writing leave)
