Oulu Museum of Art joins Disability Day Art & Action event on International Day of Persons with Disabilities 3.12.
Oulu Museum of Art takes part in a Disability Day Art & Action event on Saturday 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The day will be celebrated with culture and art, ranging from audio description of artworks to dance performances and an interdisciplinary multi-art jam happening! Museum visitors will also have the opportunity to watch the live stream of the main Disability Day Art & Action event from Musiikkitalo in Helsinki.
The DiDa program is included in the price of the museum ticket (€7 to €10, under 18 free of charge). Museum Card, Kaiku Card and culture vouchers (Epassi, Eazybreak, Smartum, SmartumPay, Edenred Virike) are accepted as means of payment.

Audio description of artworks in the Dance! exhibition
Starting point: Entrance hall
Join a tour of the Dance! Movement in the Visual Arts 1880–2022 exhibition with the help of a visual interpreter. The interpretation in Finnish will describe (approximately) five works in the exhibition.
Dance! is an exhibition of artworks depicting dancing, dance and physical expression from the late 19th century to the present day from Finnish museum collections. Techniques, ideals and modes of expression vary, but the movement remains – and lives on in us and in our time. The exhibition is an original concept produced by Helsinki Art Museum.

Watch the live stream of the main DiDa event from Musiikkitalo in Helsinki on video screen. The stream features interpretation into Finnish sign language and has an option for text interpretation. The museum's Reppu workspace will be fitted with chairs, tables and light snacks for the occasion. The event in Helsinki is organised by Kynnys ry / Threshold Association, Tukilinja Foundation, the Culture for All Service, Aula Home and Cultural Association EUCREA Finland. DiDa Day satellite broadcasts will be transmitted from India, Oulu, Tornio and Jyväskylä.

Ones"): Dances of Diversity – dance performance
Art Museum, 2nd floor galleries
Dances of Diversity is a performance and a multi-art jam session that celebrates the beauty of moving bodies and physical poetry through all senses. The performers are members of Work Group Villit, an interdisciplinary creative collective convened by Cultural Wellness Association Esteetön and MoWeArt Co-Creation. Members of the workgroup are: Jussi Alaraasakka, Ilona and Johanna Aromaa, Tapani Hyrkäs, Eija Isoherranen, Päivi Kangasniemi, Ulla Kurvinen, Pauliina Lappi, Paula Lauri, Claudia Costa Manso, Merja Männikkö, Kullervo Rauhala, Tuija Tervaskanto, Sirkka Väänänen and Ulla Meriläinen.

Accessibility
Oulu Museum of Art is mostly accessible by wheelchair.
Entrance is on the street level through the main door. The entrance has no stair steps. Threshold height is 1.5 to 2 cm. The door is not automatic, but the information desk personnel will assist the visitors. Please ring the bell on the right side of the door.
Personal assistants are welcome to the museum free of charge.
Pet dogs and cats are welcome to the entrance hall. Guide/assistant dogs are also welcome to the galleries.
The galleries have benches for sitting. Folding chairs can be borrowed from the information desk.
Facilities
The information desk of the art museum is located in the entrance hall along with the café, the coat rack, lockers and a few clothes closets with lock. The entrance also features a map of the art museum.
Gender-neutral customer toilets and a toilet accessible with wheelchair are available in the entrance hall. Another customer toilet is located on the second floor of the museum.
The galleries are located on the first and the second floors of the museum. The third floor of the museum holds office spaces. The museum has a lift for moving between the floors. The large gallery on the street level (Gallery A) has a short flight of stairs, but a wheelchair ramp is also available. Entrance to one of the galleries on the second floor also has a short flight of stairs, but is also accessible by wheelchair via the other end of the gallery. Most of the galleries are fully unobstructed with the exception of Gallery A, Tasku and Satula galleries/spaces on the first floor and the Reppu workshop space on the second floor, which are accessed through doors. Museum personnel will assist museum guests with the doors.

You can identify museum personnel by their white name tags.
Children
Pushchairs can be borrowed from the information desk. Parking space for baby carriages can be found in the entrance hall.
A nursing table is available in the wheelchair-accessible toilet.
Baby food can be warmed in the café. The café also has high chairs available.
Museum rules in brief
Large bags, backpacks and overcoats must be left in the coat rack or in a locker.
Walking except where restricted by signs and normal discussion are allowed in the galleries.
No artwork may be touched except when indicated by a specific sign or instructed by the museum personnel.
Non-flash photography is permitted except where specifically prohibited with a sign.
Please do not eat or drink anything in the galleries. There is a café in the entrance hall of the museum.
