Culture Centre Caisa's open call closes on Sunday 5th December
The main task of Cultural Centre Caisa is to promote diversity and inclusion in Helsinki through art and culture. Caisa is looking for productions to its programme, that support this task.
"We hope that diversity will be highlighted in
themes and/or makers. We want to offer professional and original art
experiences to Helsinki’s audiences.
For autumn 2022 we are looking for:
1) Ready productions and proposals in the idea phase
Performing arts premieres and reruns, exhibitions,
series (e.g. concert series, film series), festivals and concerts.
3) Communal and participatory courses for children and
families (not adults)
For the year of 2023 we are looking for:
1) Productions already in preparation and proposals in
the idea phase
Performing arts premieres and visual art exhibitions.
Application time:
8.11.-5.12.2021 by 11.59 pm.
What we offer:
All productions selected for Caisa's program will be
provided with Caisa's facilities, technical equipment and technical personnel
(not for light/sound design). In order to facilitate cooperation, a Caisa
producer will be assigned to each production, who will be responsible for
managing production for the house. Fees and other costs are negotiated with
each production separately before the contract is signed. In terms of
communications, all productions under Caisa’s program will be featured on the
house’s website, with more specific measures being negotiated with our sector’s
communications service. We also expect our production partner to invest in
communication and marketing.
You can visit Caisa's premises in advance virtually and
view technical equipment information via the links in the sidebar.
Possible forms of cooperation:
Listed below are four different forms of cooperation.
Think about which of them would suit your production the best. The final form
of cooperation will be negotiated before the agreement is finalized.
a) The production needs a venue and technical
facilities, in which case performance fees are covered in other ways, eg. with
a grant, etc.
b) In addition to the venue and technical facilities,
the production requires a financial input in the performance fees.
c) The Production wishes that Caisa will cover all
performance fees.
d) Caisa pays a fixed sales price for the production (we
cannot cover, for example, all the production costs of a theatrical
performance)
Caisa applies unions’ recommendations for the
performance fees. If the production involves ticket sales, the distribution
will be negotiated, reflecting the different forms of cooperation. Caisa also
does not distribute grants, since the City of Helsinki's Cultural Promotion
Service's grant unit is responsible for it.
How we make decisions:
At the end of the application period, Caisa’s team will
review all applications and select those productions that best meet Caisa's
selection criteria for further negotiation:
• Caisa's main task in promoting diversity and inclusion
• Artistic quality and feasibility of production
• Suitability for Caisa's premises, taking into account
the technical equipment of the house
• Suitability considering schedules
The team will then make the final decisions, which will
be notified to applicants by the end of February at the latest.
If your proposal is not selected this time, you will
also have the opportunity to rent our premises for your use."
